Mortgage Lending," Jason Dietrich - This study
examines how the use of variables customarily omitted from fair lending
models would have affected estimates of the effect of race on mortgage
decisions, predictions of the probability of denial, and identification of
outliers for manual review. The author is able to include such variables
in his models because of information the OCC gathers by replicating a bank's
underwriting decision-making process during fair lending examinations. www.occ.treas.gov/ftp/workpaper/wp2003-2.pdf
