we extract common factors from a cross-section of U.S. macro-variables
and Treasury zero-coupon yields. We find that two macroeconomic factors

Recession - Michael Siemer - The 2007-2009 recession is characterized
by: a large drop in employment, an unprecedented decline in firm entry,
and a slow recovery. Using confidential firm-level data, I show that
financial constraints reduced employment growth in small relative to
large firms by 4.8 to 10.5 percentage points.

in the latest reporting week. For the week ending Aug. 1, 2014, the
STLFSI measured -1.282, an increase from the previous week’s revised

August 7, 2014 - Statistical Release - Consumer Credit - G.19 - Consumer
credit increased at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 7-3/4 percent
during the second quarter. Revolving credit increased at an annual rate
of 5-1/2 percent, while nonrevolving credit increased at an annual rate
of 8-3/4 percent. In June, consumer credit increased at an annual rate
of 6-1/2 percent.

- Following the financial crisis, total outstanding loans to businesses
by commercial banks dropped off substantially. Large loans outstanding
began to rebound by the third quarter of 2010 and essentially returned
to their previous growth trajectory while small loans outstanding
continued to decline.
