January 31, 2003 - Peoples National Bank to Pay $175,000 Civil Money Penalty And End Payday Lending Relationship with Advance America - The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency announced today that Advance America, Cash Advance Centers, Inc. and Peoples National Bank, Paris, Texas, have agreed to end their payday lending arrangement and that the bank has agreed to pay $175,000 in civil money penalties.
